Dietrac Technical Institute offers a 36 week entry level Steamfitter / Pipefitter training program. It is developed and designed to assist individuals in obtaining basic knowledge and skills required to enter the labor work force as an apprentice.

The study of fundamental principles of safety, general shop duty's, basic drawings and sketching, piping design, precision measurement, proper handling of power/hand tools, rigging, and welding theory will insure that students will succeed in this feild.


Read and interpret shop drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements, select type and size of pipe required to complete a project, measure, cut thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools, weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping systems, test system for leaks using testing equipment, clean and maintain pipe units and fittings, remove and replace worn components.

Upon successful completion of the Steamfitter/Pipefitter program, graduates may be eligible for employment in the oil fields, paper mill 's, offshore drilling rigs, underground mining developments, and any other construction site that requires the transpotation of fluids.

This course is the initial stage leading to Red Seal Certification of Steamfitter / Pipefitter.
