Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a provincial program for adult learners and is made up of three levels: Level I refers to basic literacy and roughly equates to K-6; Level II is considered equivalent to grades 7-9; Level III corresponds to grades 10-12 and requires the completion of a minimum of 36 credits in order to graduate.

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program enables a student to receive a Grade 12 diploma. Listed below are the five main areas of instruction with the minimum number of credits required in order to compete the ABE program.
These courses include:

•English 9 Credits
•Math 6 Credits
•Science 6 Credits
•Employability Skills 4 Credits
•General Options 10 Credits

In order for a student to obtain a total of 36 credits, a student can choose their own field of study to compete their education

To be eligible to register for ABE students must be 17 years of age and be out of school for a minimum of one year. Student 21 and older can receive maturity credits up to a max of five if at the age of 29 or older. Regular high school credits already completed will be credited towards the required amount needed for program completion.

Student can enter the ABE program any time of the year and work at their own pace in a individualized environment. Text books are provided to each student with individual help give to students as need from a qualified instructor.
